DSHS BACKS OFF HEMP-CBD BAN
DON'T LET TEXAS BAN HEMP-CBD SALES

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) could be days away from banning sales of hemp-CBD products in the state of Texas. This presents yet another blow to Texans that rely on natural remedies, including hemp-CBD, for the treatment of medical conditions they have.
On April 16, 2018, DSHS Commissioner John Hellerstedt may make a decision to adopt a new protocol to ban hemp-CBD sales. The proposed protocol states that products containing more than trace amounts of hemp-CBD, a non-psychoactive compound derived from hemp, will be removed from store shelves and either returned to the manufacturer or destroyed.
Not only is this detrimental to the thousands of Texans benefiting from hemp-CBD to treat their ailments, but this is a significant blow to the companies that have invested millions of dollars into their hemp-CBD businesses in the state.
TCIA invites Texans to take a stand on the matter by signing onto an open letter in support of keeping hemp-CBD on the shelves of our stores and to show the Texas government that this is something that people are watching.

WE DID IT - DSHS HAS BACKED-OFF TEXAS CBD BAN!!
This is what happens when the greater cannabis community (Texas & nationally) stand together in the political mainstream for the purpose of protecting our patient-consumers and the legitimate businesses who serve them. Imagine what we can do when we focus on removing the industry’s self-declared greatest threat Pete Sessions from office this fall.
The Texas Department of State Health Services “has put a hold on its efforts to strip food and supplements infused with CBD oil from Texas retail store shelves.” Upon hearing the news, State Representative Joe Moody (a long-time leader in the drive to bring Texas into this decade re cannabis education & laws) called “for the agency to delay the process altogether until lawmakers have a chance to weigh in during next year’s legislative session.”
TCIA agrees with Rep. Moody. DSHS will be wise to wait for Legislative guidance. We need minimal, common-sense regulations to ensure safety and consistency and then government needs to get out of the way. This current CBD grey market is a direct result of the manhandling Greg Abbott, poor execution, and extreme limitations of the current version of the Compassionate Use Program. Respect and act on the will of the people.
